Overview
The OPTIFLUX 4400 is an electromagnetic flowmeter (EMF) developed in accordance with IEC 61508 for safety-related applications up to safety integrity level (SIL) 2/3. It enables automated partial proof testing, allowing for extended intervals between full proof tests to increase plant uptime in safety instrumented systems (SIS). It also features a best-in-class diagnostic test interval, including a fault response time of only 2 minutes. If running out of spec, the flowmeter is able to issue an alarm to the control room much faster than other EMFs available on the market.
Next to safety applications, the OPTIFLUX 4400 is particularly suitable for applications requiring high accuracy, advanced process and device diagnostics, and wireless on-site verification. Due to its wide selection of lining and electrode materials it can well be used for flow measurement and dosing of chemicals and corrosive liquids such as acids or abrasive slurries with very high solid content. By utilising the meter’s enhanced, fast-response conductivity measurement, plant operators can monitor an additional parameter and reduce the need for further investment.
Thanks to its innovative MPO (Multi Phase Operation) functionality, the OPTIFLUX 4400 provides optimised signal processing that maintains measurement operation even during major process disturbances that push other commercially available EMFs to their limits. As a result, it delivers reliable, repeatable readings even in the presence of high levels of entrained gas, solids or electromagnetic disturbances.
The flowmeter utilises OPTICHECK technology built-in with approximately 80 application and device diagnostics for a high degree of process safety and reliability. Thanks to its coloured, backlit display, it provides intuitive indication in the event of an empty pipe, changing medium conductivity, gas bubbles, or other individually configurable events. The advanced status indication comes colour-coded in accordance with NAMUR NE 107. The flowmeter is also equipped with a real-time clock, which enables event logging and analysis of the recorded diagnostics.
Next to continuous self-monitoring, the OPTIFLUX 4400 offers wireless parameterisation, real-time measurement monitoring and on-site verification via Bluetooth® in conjunction with the KROHNE OPTICHECK Flow Mobile app. A verification report can also be generated wirelessly at the push of a button – without interrupting production, opening the signal converter housing, or having to work in confined installation spaces. This significantly simplifies operation and maintenance, while also enhancing occupational safety.
The EMF can also be operated in the energy-saving EcoMode. This mode meets the increasing demand for sustainable and efficient energy use, allowing the meter’s power consumption to be significantly reduced – without compromising the measurement accuracy of the OPTIFLUX 4400.
