KROHNE products are designed to work reliably under real process conditions and to deliver long-term stable measurement results for many years. However, international or national standards, demanding process or environmental conditions and improper use may make it necessary to calibrate and, if required, adjust instrumentation in certified facilities after installation.

Thanks to our many years of experience, calibration is now one of our core competences. Thanks to a worldwide network of more than 150 calibration facilities, we are able to calibrate every device we manufacture. These calibration systems are among the most accurate used in the manufacture of process instrumentation worldwide. They are certified or accredited according to international standards.

Upon request, we offer accredited calibrations for increased requirements in accordance with
ISO 17025 or other standards in KROHNE's own or external calibration laboratories. Our calibration service includes both individual measuring devices and complex measurement and control systems. The accredited facilities are subject to regular testing by metrology institutes. In addition to factory and laboratory calibration, KROHNE also offers mobile calibration as a premium service in some countries.

Service options

Calibration only

For each standard calibration, KROHNE compares the field device with a higher reference in certified calibration facilities. For example, flowmeters at KROHNE are always calibrated with a calibration medium, usually water or air. The measuring performance of the customer device is checked and deviations from the reference instrument are documented.

Calibration with metrological verification

KROHNE offers calibrations with metrological verification according to a defined specification for measurements that are subject to calibration or billing. These can be based on the requirements of MID, OIML, AGA or other national and international standards. KROHNE uses certified calibration facilities to check whether the approved measuring device complies with the maximum permissible measurement error and is therefore within the predefined specification. KROHNE then issues a test certificate for the mandatory recalibration. In addition, KROHNE also offers accredited calibrations in accordance with ISO 17025 (RvA, UKAS, DAkkS) and others from a single source.

Calibration with adjustment

In addition, KROHNE offers calibration including a basic functional test with an adjustment of the essential metrological parameters. This allows adjustment of those device constants that return a measuring device to its function-preserving state. In the case of flowmeters, these are one or more essential measuring constants, depending on the measuring principle. A device adjustment is particularly necessary if the calibration has resulted in a deviation from the specification.

Calibration with adjustment of all parameters

In addition to calibration with adjustment of the essential device constants, KROHNE also offers calibration that includes complete adjustment of non-metrological device parameters. Depending on customer requirements, the adjustment ranges from customer-specific troubleshooting and optimisation, e.g. changing the signal/frequency output, to a complete reset of the measuring device to factory settings. With this calibration service, KROHNE can also carry out all settings on the meter under test that offer the customer added value against a specific application background.
