Overview
The WATERFLUX 3400 is an electromagnetic flowmeter (EMF) for monitoring non-revenue water (NRW) in potable water distribution networks and other processes. This high-end meter is particularly suitable for applications requiring high accuracy, advanced process and device diagnostics, as well as wireless on-site verification capabilities. Thanks to its optimised measuring tube cross-section, the WATERFLUX 3400 provides reliable measurement results even when straight inlet and outlet runs are not available or desired, and disturbed flow conditions prevail.
In addition, the flowmeter features improved conductivity measurement with outstanding response times. Operators benefit from an additional measurement parameter that assists in detecting water quality issues and preventing empty pipe events, without the need for further investment. This parameter is integrated as standard and consistently provides a reliable overview of the medium’s condition.
Thanks to its innovative MPO (Multi Phase Operation) functionality, the WATERFLUX 3400 provides optimised signal processing that maintains measurement operation even during major process disturbances that push other commercially available EMFs to their limits. As a result, it delivers reliable, repeatable readings even in the presence of high levels of entrained gas, solids or electromagnetic disturbances.
The water meter utilises OPTICHECK technology built-in, comprising around 80 application and device diagnostics for a high degree of process safety and reliability. All measured data and diagnostic information can be easily accessed and customised via an extended range of configurable settings. The backlit display enables intuitive, colour-coded status recognition. Additionally, the device is equipped with a real-time clock, which enables event logging and analysis of the recorded diagnostics.
Next to continuous self-monitoring, the EMF offers wireless parameterisation, real-time measurement monitoring, and on-site verification via Bluetooth® in conjunction with the KROHNE OPTICHECK Flow Mobile app. A verification report can be generated at the push of a button. This eliminates the need to interrupt the client's process, open the converter housing, or work in confined installation spaces, thereby simplifying operation and maintenance while improving occupational safety.
The WATERFLUX 3400 offers a significantly larger turndown ratio (1000:1) compared to mechanical flowmeters (e.g. turbine meters) used in drinking water distribution networks. KROHNE also provides pre-fitted spool pieces from a single source to compensate for the shorter ISO/DIN total length of its space-saving electromagnetic water meter, enabling easy replacement of comparatively bulky mechanical meters.
The water meter features an extremely robust and maintenance-free measuring tube with a Rilsan® liner, which holds various potable water approvals. It also has an innovative reference electrode that enables a cost-saving measuring mode without the need for additional grounding rings.
