The aviation industry must decarbonise, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plays a key role in achieving this goal. SAF can be produced from a wide range of feedstocks through various production pathways, including Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA), as well as emerging technologies such as Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) and Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene via Fischer–Tropsch (SPK-FT). Although each pathway presents unique characteristics, they also share common process challenges, such as complex feedstock handling, high pressures and temperatures, and hydrogen service.
Ensuring safe and reliable plant operation over many years begins with selecting the right instrumentation from the outset. Robust straight-tube Coriolis mass flowmeters and ceramic pressure transmitters are designed to handle even the most abrasive feedstocks, while ultrasonic flowmeters provide reliable operation under extreme pressures and temperatures in hydrogen, liquids, steam, and gases. In addition, complete turnkey solutions are available to address custody transfer and advanced leak detection requirements.
KROHNE is your partner in engineering your next SAF plant. With extensive expertise in Oil & Gas and variable feedstock processes, we bridge both industries to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation. Helping you build an SAF facility you can trust for many years to come.
KROHNE Global Industry Division Sustainable energies
Headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, our Global Industry Division is dedicated to serving customers in the sustainable power generation and sustainable energy sectors. Our offering extends from elementary process instrumentation up to fully engineered systems, and from engineering consultancy during the design phase, through to on-site commissioning and training. With presence in around 100 countries, local support is usually available from just around the corner. This applies whether the application can be covered by standard instrumentation, or is more challenging, where a one-off solution with dedicated process diagnostics is required.
