VARIFLUX IFS 6000 helps develop tomorrow's superior car enginesCooling water measurement provides vital data in testing engine prototypes
Powertrain development today requires a whole range of sophisticated development and test facilities, which can be difficult to justify for an engine manufacturer who infrequently develops a completely new engine. This is the business of AVL List Ges.m.b.H. in Graz / Austria.
In their dynamic test beds and steady state test beds, AVL test engines for famous car companies such as Audi, VW and BMW.
The engine is fitted to the test bed, and is subjected to various test cycles. The engines are, of course, not fitted with cooling systems, these are part of the test beds, thus guaranteeing standardised conditions. The conditions have to be kept to within tight tolerances, and so AVL chose to use VARIFLUX 6000 F, DN 40 with a DIN welded thread sterile connector. The meters have a PFA liner and take water at a maximum temperature of 140°C.
10 meters - but only one converter
To cut costs and to ensure that the results are processed identically, all 10 meters have an umbilical cord connector to the converter. AVL's own engineers created these cords specifically for the purpose.
The reason why the customer chose KROHNE:
 | The best reliability he could find
| | Consistency of results ? which translates to perfect dependability, and
| | Good value for money
| | And not to forget, excellent support by the sales engineers from KROHNE. |
Next time you're driving down Germany's autobahns, you'll find it hard to spot a car that hasn't been tested with a KROHNE meter.
Key words: VARIFLUX, variflux, EMF, emf, engine testing, consistency, reliability, testing beds, testing rigs, automobile industry
