Double success on North Sea FPSOs

Bluewater’s Glas Dowr Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Vessel in the North Sea has demonstrated the effectiveness of KROHNE ultrasonic flow meters to aid the efficiency of the processing operation.

The KROHNE UFM 500 series offers high reliability, low maintenance and minimum pressure loss alongside low installation costs because there is no requirement for filters.

Glas Dowr’s crude oil processing plant separates well effluent into dry crude, gas and water, and is able to store up to 650, 000bbls. It was built and is owned and operated by Bluewater UK, which installed the KROHNE UFM 500 range on a second FPSO the Bleo Holm after assessing the excellent performance on the Glas Dowr.

KROHNE UFMs are used in each of the 3 mains stages of the processing operation on Glas Dowr: for crude oil flow measurements, seawater measurement and in high pressure versions with 2500lb flanges for well water injection. An additional two UFM 500 K/ Ex are installed in series and used for flow measurements during offloading operations to the shuttle tanker.
