KROHNE has been a very active player in the Chinese market for many years now. Firstly SGAIC was established in Shanghai, producing electromagnetic flowmeters and Coriolis mass flowmeters. Subsequently, KROHNE entered into a new joint venture, setting up CRK in Chengde, to produce Variable Area meters.

SGAIC
In March 1987 KROHNE together with the Shanghai Guanghua Instrument Factory formed SGAIC. For years KROHNE has been renowned for its wet calibration facilities in Europe and the UK. However, with the formation of SGAIC, a new 'Centre of Excellence' for electromagnetic and ultrasonic flowmeters has been established in Shanghai for KROHNE Asia Pacific clients. SGAIC operates the calibration device capable of handling the largest diameter of real water flow in Asia. SGAIC can produce electromagnetic flow meters and Coriolis mass flowmeters.

These meters are widely used in the fields of metallurgy, feed and drainage of water, petrochemical, light and textile, power supply, mining and mechanical industries, and also for export. The Shanghai calibration rig is traceable to the Nmi (Netherlands), and is capable of calibrating meters of up to 3.2 metres DN. Aside from its sister calibration rig at KROHNE ALTOMETER, in The Netherlands, it is the largest wet calibration rig of its kind in the world. SGAIC is also presently the largest manufacturer of electromagnetic flowmeters in China. The Company is certified by quality control system, ISO (9002).

CRK Chengde
Centre of Excellence for KROHNE Variable Area Flowmeters.
The Chengde Rehe-Krohne Meters Co., was jointly set up by KROHNE and the Chengde Instrument factory in July, 1991. Located in New & High Development Zone, Chengde, Hebei, the factory covers the area of 16000 m2. After fourteen years, and with an excellent production facility reputation and focus on quality control, the Chengde operations is now responsible for over 60% market share of the variable area flowmeter market.

Some of Chengde clients include Beijing Yanshan, Shandong Qilu, Shanghai Jinshan and Daqing Petrochemical Company; Bejing, Jilin, Quzhou, Zhenhai,Guangzhou Chemical Company, Baoshan, Anshan, Benxi, Chongqing Steel Company, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Huabei Pharmacy, etc. The company is ISO 9002 and ISO 9001 in 1999.

KMTS Shanghai
100% KROHNE (KROHNE Measurement Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.) The fourth pillar to support KROHNE's China strategy is the recently founded electromagnetic flowmeter factory KMTS (KROHNE Measurement Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.). KMTS is located in the Songjiang ("Pine Tree River") The Development Zone southwest of Shanghai.

Unlike the three other companies, KMTS is a 100% KROHNE-owned company which of course has many advantages.
The production was started in March 2004, with an initial output of 2,000 units per year. With a potential production capacity of 13,000 units per year (in one-shift production), KMTS can serve as powerful backup for KROHNE ALTOMETER operations. KMTS have a strong focus on customer needs and satisfaction.
