Presentations at Pipeline Technology 2006

Lecture on Leak Detection
by Prof. G. Geiger, University of Gelsenkirchen
This workshop deals with the various types of leak detection and compared a model-based procedure with conventional methods. It shows what is important in specifying a leak detection system, works through a checklist of needs and considers detection, localisation and interoperability with existing top systems.

Lecture on leak detection and localisation ? human factors in their choice
by Hilko den Hollander, International Product Manager for Pipeline Monitoring Systems
It?s snowing outside, 30 degrees below. The leak detection unit?s alarm is ringing. So you need to go out and pig the pipe ? only to find out it was a false alarm. The second time it happens, you?ll simply switch the alarm off. This is not a horror scenario, but real life. No false alarms, detection to within a small operating radius: These are the human factors alongside accuracy, repeatability and integration into existing scada systems. This lecture focuses on real-life situations and leads to a brief demonstrations of a real-time model based system.
