OPTIFLEX measures level of C02 at ATG Air LiquideLevel measurement of CO2 on a horizontal storage tank
Client: ATG Air Liquide
Industry: Chemistry
Product: C02
Air Liquide, world market leader in the field of industrial and medical gases, has opted for OPTIFLEX as replacement for load cells used to measure the level of CO2.
The devices were installed in tanks with diameters ranging between 1.3 and 3 m. The OPTIFLEX devices are made of stainless steel and equipped with coaxial probes, since CO2 has a very low relative permittivity.
Holes were punched into the outer case of the coaxial probes every 2 cm to ensure maximum flow of the medium. The OPTIFLEX proved to be "impervious" to the media temperature, which was -20°C when the tank was being filled at a pressure of 20 bar. Measuring operation started almost immediately after the valve had been opened. OPTIFLEX indicated the correct level even when interfaces formed as a result of different CO2 densities.
Air Liquide was most enthusiastic about the stability and linearity of the OPTIFLEX, which remained stable despite intensive agitation of the medium surface during filling. Two more OPTIFLEX devices have been ordered in the meantime.
