OPTIFLEX: Level measurement of liquid C02 at OPZ
Customer:
OPZ AG, Ukraine
Product:
liquid C02
Industry:
chemical and petrochemical industry
KROHNE product:
OPTIFLEX 1300 C
Application:
Main task of the Odesskij priportovzj zavod plant is the production and sales of chemicals - ammonia and carbamide. Furthermore, liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide, liquid oxygen and sodium sulfate are produced. OPZ uses OPTIFLEX for liquid C02 level measurement.
The Sensor of the new remote version of OPTIFLEX is connected with the converter through a cable.
Problem:
Difficult level measurement of liquid gases at low temperatures. OPTIFLEX 1300 C can measure the level of liquid gases directly in the gas holders or special tanks, protected from heat. The relative permittivity of liquid C02 is 1.1 - 1.2, which is a challenge for the devices of many other manufacturers.
Solution:
The remote version of OPTIFLEX measures level and interfaces and has the following advantages:
 | Easy reading of the meter (for example on high silos, especially in winter)
| | Reading of the data even if the sensor is placed in inacceccible areas (e.g. toxic athmosphere)
| | Sensor installation in areas with extremely high or low temperatures (liquid gases, or in steel and iron industry) |
OPZ uses a coax-sensor which allows the level measurement of almost all liquid gases. Using a coax-cable improves accuracy and reliability and decreases the block distance to a minimum.
Key Words: OPTIFLEX, carbon dioxide, CO2
