Keeping coal refining ecological

2001-Dec-20. Coal refining in Europe is under discussion not only for economical but as well for ecological reasons. One important refinery in the Czech republic now uses an incineration method, which pays attention to both constraints. Waste liquids from this production have to be burned in an ecological way - and this is done in a new up-to-date incineration plant. The accurate mass flow measurement of waste hydrocarbons is necessary for the burner control. The customer uses 3 KROHNE mass flow meters MFM 3081 10E mainly because they can operate under harsh process conditions with an excellent performance/price ratio.

All flow meters analogue outputs are used to measure hydrocarbons mass flow rate, their pulse outputs are used to display the total mass. Control inputs set the stand-by mode when the burners are switched off and the flow meters are cleaned with steam. The product temperature (up to 160 °C) and the density are also measured with MFM 3081 10E and are shown on the display.
