Application Ammofos AG at Tscherepovets is one of the leading Russian manufacturers of phosphate fertilizers. The focus of the company is the production of sulfuric acid. Raw materials are sulfur and sideropyrit. OPTIMASS 7050 C T25 mass flowmeters from KROHNE with straight tube and heating jackets are used for flow measurement of molten sulfur with a temperature of under 145°С.
Problem Ammofos encountered problems using other measurement principles for molten sulfur.
Solution The heating jacket prevents the sulphur from crystallizing. The main advantage of mass flowmeters with a straight tube is the small pressure loss. It is also easier to set up the device again after an eventual crystallization of the sulfur.
