Electromagnetic Flowmeters steel plant for 18 years and still working

Keeping cool with hot applications
Fluid steel of more than 1500°C leaves several continuous casting plants of BMZ (Belarus Metallurgical Plant) in Zhlobin, Gomel region, to be formed and cut into tracks of equal length. But how to keep fluid steel in a stable shape? The answer is by cooling it down very quickly to a temperature, which allows fixing steel into a rectangular shape. This job is being done by water-cooling facilities, being controlled by KROHNE's K300 MIDs, which are more than 18 years old. 18 years is a nice age for a girl but it is old age for MIDs due to the rapid development of new technologies in measurement systems (For more information have a look at Mag Flowmeters). Nevertheless, the old KROHNE MIDs are still working perfectly without any problem since the early 80th, which clearly proves the outstanding quality of KROHNE meters. KROHNE's IFM 4080 or Aquaflux are solving in the meantime new applications at BMZ, for example in cold rolling mills.
