In the Kaliningrad area of Russia, more and more oil fields are developed. Due to the large distances in between and the relatively small supplies of oil per field it is not always appropriate to build a pipeline in order to get the oil to the refineries.
The transport is therefore done by trucks with 20 m3 tanks. In the past, there was a float level measurement. But from time to time the tanks were overfilled which damaged the environment.
In order to avoid overfilling, the customer was offered the three beam ultrasonic flowmeter UFM 3030 for measurement of the crude oil volume and filling of the truck tanks. Finally, KROHNE delivered DN50, DN65 and DN80. The customer was satisfied with accuracy and repeatability which allowed solving the problems of this application.
