The contract is for gauging systems on 6 stainless steel tankers (9000 dwt) with delivery scheduled from the end of 2009 until mid 2010. The contracts are placed by ChuanDong shipyard in Fuling, and this yard has selected similar CAROMASTER® systems for their previous 4 tankers for Brovig. With a total order-book of 10 systems, ChuanDong is a large customer of KROHNE Skarpenord.
Complete systems of high specification are to be delivered. The scope of supply includes pressures sensors in ballast, service tanks and line pressures as well as the radar gauging system on the cargo tanks and other measuring points.
The final decision to choose CARGOMASTER® with OPTIWAVE radars was made by Odfjell’s newbuilding department. Since the decision came after a long and thorough evaluation against major competing systems, we trust that the unique features of the OPTIWAVE radars as well as the level of redundancy in the system were key elements of the selection.
ChuanDong shipyard in Fuling City close to the Three Gorges in the Chongqing municipality is on of the very few yards in China offering stainless steel tankers. With this order, we strengthen our position in the strategically important stainless steel segment. We are pleased to see that the order follows our previous contracts in another yard offering stainless steel tankers; the Qingshan yard building for Utkilen. It is safe to say that our system now holds a very strong market share for this type of tankers in China.
