Bourbon Offshore chooses OPTIWAVE 8300 C Marine
KROHNE Skarpenord has won the contract for delivering cargo level gauging systems to Bourbon Offshore's newbuildings in China. The PSV's will have the Ulstein X-BOW® design, type number PX-105 MACS®. The vessels will be delivered by Zhejiang Shipbuilding in Ningbo between mid 2009 and mid 2010. Zhejiang Shipbuilding has built ships since 1969, and the yard is recognized for delivering high quality vessels.
one reason for Bourbon Offshore to choose CARGOMASTER® was our OPTIWAVE cargo level radar, designed to keep operational costs at a minimum. The stand-alone OPTIWAVE radars with local indication works independent of the monitoring system. If a computer or common I/O component should fail during critical cargo operations, the operators may continue closed loading or discharging with the radar's local ullage indication.
In competing systems, broken central components may lead to a situation where levels and volumes cannot be read, and levels must be taken by manual sounding. The OPTIWAVE overcomes this in its design and manner of operation.
OPTIWAVE 8300 C Marine tank radar is compact and easy to place in the tight PSV environment.
KROHNE Skarpenord secured the contract facing hard competition. The yard found our system to be easy to install due to compact design and easy cabling.
Bourbon Offshore has a fleet of 19 offshore vessels. The new PX-105 MACS® will add four to the fleet of PSVs, AHTS's and MPSV's. Bourbon Offshore is recognized as one of the most innovative ship owners in the offshore support market today. The final decision for CARGOMASTER® was made by Bourbon Offshore in Norway.
