Sidelong view meets needs of solvent recovery processLevel measurement in Albion's double-decker storage tanks with BM 100A Double-decker storage tanks used in a solvent recovery operation are employing a unique sidemounting configuration of the BM100 to measure the content available for processing. The 16 stainless steel tanks at Albion Distillation Services in Garston are arranged with 8 at ground level and a further 8 tanks mounted on top of them. This maximises the use of the storage space, but creates problems for mounting level meters, which are normally fitted on top of the tanks. KROHNE's technical team adapted the BM 100A by bending the twin rod probes at 90 degrees and mounting the instrumentation on a flange in an access hatch on the side of the lower tanks. Paul Rowley, of Veeder Root Environmental Systems explains: "The tanks were in such an unusual configuration that other companies we talked to simply walked away from the problem. KROHNE worked with us on a test installation, experimenting with the mounting and settings on the BM 100A until it operated satisfactorily. Albion is delighted with the results."
