Measuring talc with BM 100ALUZENAC group chooses KROHNE's TDR level gauge
KROHNE has dusted off the competition to deliver accurate level measurement for the world’s premier talc producer, the LUZENAC group which produces more than one million tonnes per annum.
The LUZENAC group, which owns 40 factories throughout Europe and North America, has chosen to install BM 100A level meters at its factory in the French Pyrénées, one of the largest talc manufacturing sites in the world. Due to complexities with measuring talc, ultrasonic level measurement systems previously used proved unreliable. The LUZENAC group decided to look at TDR technology, initially testing a meter manufactured by one of KROHNE's competitors.
This provided better results than the ultrasonic systems, but the readings were still regularly inaccurate. A BM 100A from KROHNE was then tested, and during all phases of the process, readings from the BM100 were faultless. After 6 months of monitoring the silo, the BM 100A has now been chosen as the superior device for accurate measuring of talc and the Group has placed an order for 17 more units.
