BM 100 for LPG / LNG level measurementThe BM 100 has been successfully installed in LPG and LNG applications all over the world. There are no regulations requiring an on/off valve between the BM 100 and the tank. Valves are required for those instruments that have to be removed, such as the slip tape gauge, and instruments in need of repair, e.g. servo-gauge type. The BM 100 does not require any dismantling of its probe for repair. As with the float type instruments tank integrity is not violated during repair. The BM 100 probe is a static one, and you should consider it as being a still well. The probes can, of course, be removed if necessary.
Inserting a valve between the tank and the level instrument increases the number of potential leakage points, as at least two gaskets are needed. With the BM 100 installation, there is only one gasket. Therefore there is one sealing problem less.
The BM 100 has been installed on 13-metre LPG tanks with a ”plug and play” start-up. Even if the dielectric constant is very low, between 1.4 and 1.6, we use the Direct mode without any adjustment or commissioning. In China we have a spherical tank of approx. 13 metres working in the TBF mode on LNG that is installed in a lateral by-pass .
