Measurement of hot water in the Vienna-Simmering Power StationDespite adverse conditions, EMF from KROHNE continues to function perfectly after 10 long years of use. An Aquaflux EMF flowmeter with a bonded FEP liner, size DN 800 and a PN 40 pressure rating has been since 1992 to measure heating water at 130°C. The pipework is under 15 to 25 bar pressure constantly. The water comes from the cooling towers and heat exchangers in the Simmering Power Station, and is fed into the district-heating network in Vienna. The water comes from the cooling towers and heat exchangers in the Simmering Power Station, and is fed into the district-heating network in Vienna. Although parts of the configuration, such as the SC 100 AS converter have long since been succeeded by more modern converters, the plant operator sees no reason to upgrade since the meter has always worked perfectly. This is one of these good-news-bad-news situations. On the one hand, the good news is that the customer is perfectly satisfied. The bad news is, he doesn’t need to buy a replacement for a long time. The other good news is however, that there’s not much chance he’ll go to the competition, after having so much satisfactory service from his KROHNE meter. If anybody ever doubts the quality of our meters, tell him this story, and suggest he gives Simmering a ring.
