for High Viscous Liquid Flow Measurements

Viscosity independent & Highly accurate measurements

During a series of tests carried out at the site of a Dutch refinery, witnessed by the Dutch Board of Weight & Measures NMi, ALTOSONIC V proved it had no difficulty with measuring high viscosities at a high accuracy and repeatability. As a result of these and other tests, NMi issued a type approval for the KROHNE multibeam ultrasonic flowmeter, according to OIML Recommendation R 117, for a viscosity range of 0.1 up to 150 mPa.s.
The liquids used in the tests included water, light cycle oil with a viscosity of 1,5 cSt at 70 degrees C and fuel oil with a viscosity of 125 cSt at 70 degrees C. The tests also proved ALTOSONIC V measures independent of viscosity.

Next to the ability to handle high viscosities and high temperatures, other reasons for the customer to select ALTOSONIC V for their internal fuel oil pipeline system are:
• no obstruction in the flowline
• accuracy to custody transfer standards
• negligible pressure loss
• easy and compact installation.

The meter installation does not include a prover installation,
only for test purposes a prover connection is made.
